Alamo Square Quilt Pattern Launch
Introducing the Alamo Square Quilt
Alamo Square, a historic and picturesque neighborhood in San Francisco, is renowned for its iconic Victorian homes, vibrant streets, and the famous Painted Ladies. The Alamo Square Quilt is a modern tribute to this unique landscape, with the design drawing inspiration from the bold architecture, reflecting the intricate details and ornate craftsmanship of the homes. The quilt’s modern traditional design incorporates Layer Cakes (10″ squares) to bring a contemporary twist, blending the beauty of Victorian architecture with modern quilting techniques, resulting in a striking piece that honors the rich history and charm of the Alamo Square neighborhood.
Striking. Classic. Ornate.
This pattern is rated at an Advanced Beginner level and is all traditionally pieced. Pattern includes three sizes: Baby, Throw, and Bed. Pattern is designed to use Layer Cake precuts and includes a bonus three color layout option for all sizes.
Cover sample fabrics are Ruby Star Society from the Endpaper collection and background is Speckled in White Gold. Additional samples use Between the Pages and Besties collections by Riley Blake Designs and were provided by Riley Blake Designs.

Alamo Square: Between the Pages
This sample uses the Between the Pages collection by Fran Gulick for Riley Blake Designs. This was the first sample I made of the pattern and I played with orientation of the center diamond half square triangles, with the darker fabric toward the center and the corners with the darker fabric outward. I love how it created new shapes and contrast in the full quilt top.
Alamo Square: Besties
This sample uses the Besties collection by Corinne Wells for Riley Blake Designs. This sample was what inspired me to make the bonus three color instructions within the pattern. I love how it simplified the design and really leaned into the ornate focus of the layout. I opted to make the bed size version and I love how it came together! It’s going to be a gift for my daughter and I know she will love it!
