Golden Gate Quilt Pattern Launch

Introducing the Golden Gate Quilt

My partner and I moved to San Francisco as a young married couple, with wild dreams and huge hopes for our future. The city has been my heart’s dream as I grew up about 90 miles east of the bay. When we finally moved into our tiny shoe box of an apartment, I was jobless and worried about how to make it all work. I eventually found a position across the Golden Gate Bridge, in Marin County. My entire career has been spent crossing the Golden Gate Bridge and I have felt so lucky to be able to witness such beauty each day. The views of the Marin Headlands as you head north, the breathtaking cityscape as you head down south, and the famous San Francisco fog that rolls down the hillside at a rapid pace are all of the images that make the Golden Gate so majestic. This quilt is inspired by the shapes and slopes of the bridge and the fading sunset that you see as the sun settles down over the Pacific Ocean.

Vivid. Dramatic. Modern.

This pattern is rated at an Intermediate level and uses templates to create the stacked curve shapes. The pattern comes in one size only (throw), but can easily be separated into blocks to use for different projects!

Cover sample uses fabrics provided by Andover Fabrics - Spectrastatic by Giucy Giuce in Dust, Electrica, Sun, Stellar, and Dubbah.

Pattern Tester Versions

Jeanne (IG: @jeanne.garcia) used soft blues and peaches against this black background to give a high contrast pop to the design. Her use of color is always exquisite and the flow of this palette creates such a cool and effortless effect. As always, beautiful work, Jeanne!

Rachel (IG: @littlebitsalove) created this bold and striking Golden Gate Quilt using a soft background and beautiful small prints for the accent colors. The way the colors compliment each other and dance across the quilt are fantastic. I adore this version! Stellar make, Rachel!

Lauren (IG: @sewlosew ) brought a dreamy quality to her version of the Golden Gate Quilt. The periwinkle background color with a hint of shimmer pairs so beautifully with the golden and peachy hues of the blocks. Her craftsmanship is beyond brilliant and her eye for palette is top notch! Love it, Lauren!

Erendira (IG: @madebyerendira) created such a pretty version of the Golden Gate Quilt. In quite a different take than the SJM sample, the bold colors that she chose dance so elegantly against the white background and really elevate the design. It’s such a fresh and modern approach to the pattern and I’m so in love how it has transformed. It’s stunning, Erendira!

Kayle (IG: @KaylesKounter) made this fun and playful version of the Golden Gate Quilt. At first glance, the beautiful green gradient gives a disappearing illusion. It’s so soft and pretty! At closer look, the textured background fabric shows dinosaurs and is really a fun surprise! This version is so cute, Kayle!

It has been so much fun to see each tester’s version come to life with their own unique interpretations. I am so impressed by their willingness to tackle challenges and learn new skills, while creating something that is special and reflects their own style. It has been such a pleasure sewing alongside these incredible makers, I feel so honored!
